Pedro struck a hat-trick while Victor Valdes saved another penalty as Barcelona beat Rayo Vallecano 4-0 in La Liga.
Barcelona continued their 100 per cent start to the Primera Division season with an ultimately convincing victory. Spain winger Pedro netted in the 33rd, 47th and 72nd minutes to put Barca in control and Cesc Fabregas added a fourth as Gerardo Martino's men made it five wins from five in La Liga.
Barca goalkeeper Valdes also played his part in the victory with a penalty save from Roberto Trashorras when the score was only 1-0.
Almeria surrendered a two-goal lead in the second half to share the spoils with Levante in a 2-2 draw. The hosts went ahead through a penalty from Jose Antonio Rabasco 'Verza' in the 45th minute with Jesus Joaquin Fernandez 'Suso' doubling the advantage early in the second half.
Christian Fernandez was sent off for the hosts shortly after the goal and Nabil El Zhar put Levante back in contention with a penalty, before Pape Diop completed Joaquin Caparros's side's comeback.
Real Sociedad are still without a win since the first day of the season after being held to a goalless draw by Malaga.
The match was low on incident and the best chances largely came from crosses into the box, with neither side able to capitalise.
The Basques struggled to break down Bernd Schuster's side, who enjoyed the better of the chances, but were wasteful in front of goal.
In the evening's late kick-off Atletico ensured Barca would not finish the day as outright leaders as they claimed a 2-0 win at Valladolid.
Raul Garcia opened the scoring 11 minutes into the second half and Diego Costa added a second in the 72nd minute as Atletico continued their impressive start to the campaign.
